The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Hall (BKISHHB) recently received a visit from the famous Calligrapher from Turkiye, Seyit Ahmet Depeler and Abdurrahim Kalya.
Seyit Ahmet Depeler is an Islamic calligrapher who is known for having won several Islamic calligraphy writing competitions both nationally and internationally, and also won the famous Islamic Calligraphy Championship organised by the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA).
Meanwhile, Abdurrahim Kalya, who also worked as Imam at the Konya-Selcuklu Mufti Office in Turkiye is a well-known and experienced calligrapher who has won several Islamic calligraphy competitions including winning prestigious competitions such as International Istanbul Classical Arts Competition.
Present to lead the group tour was the spouse of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam, Madam Lale Esroy.
Also present were traditional Turkiye musicians Ozgur Sarman and Suat Kilic.
The purpose of the tour was to view Islamic artefacts which were an attraction displayed at the BKISHHB Exhibition Gallery, especially Islamic Evolutionary Calligraphy exhibition which consists of 7 types of Khat script; Kufi, Thuluts, Naksh, Farsi, Rayhani, Riq'ah and Diwani.
