Faith & Devotion
The exhibition which is the first of its kind in Brunei features over 20 orientalist painting by renowned 19th century artists which amongst others includes Jean-Leons-Gerome. Osman Hamdi Bey and Rudolf Ernst. In the theme Faith & Devotion, the paintings collectively explore depicitions of the many parts of the muslim world termed as ' The Orient' in the 19th century which were accessible to European Visitors. The painting shed an important light on Islamic culture and religion at a time when few photographic records survive.
