Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) today became the focus of a visit by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd. Sanusi, and their entourage in conjunction with a Goodwill Visit to Brunei Darussalam.
BKISHHB is an institution that stores and exhibits invaluable Islamic heritage treasures and plays a role in collecting, researching, studying, expanding, and disseminating Islamic information and knowledge.
The arrival of His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak at BKISHHB was welcomed by the Permanent Secretary (Public Service Administration) of the Prime Minister’s Department, Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin.
Also welcoming the delegation were the Director of BKISHHB, Dr. Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Ahmad, as well as BKISHHB officers and staff.
His Excellency and his wife began their visit by signing a commemorative sheet, followed by a group photo session.
The delegation also received a briefing on BKISHHB from Dr. Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain before touring the exhibition galleries.
Also present was the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, who served as the Minister of Escort, along with his wife.
BKISHHB features nine galleries showcasing the personal collections of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, focusing on Islamic civilization. These include mushaf collections from various countries, Arabic, Farsi, and Nusantara manuscripts, sticks, prayer beads, as well as fossils and Islamic astronomical artifacts.
Since reopening to the public on December 12, 2022, BKISHHB has received approximately 28,000 visitors, including both the public and tourists from abroad, and has also attracted the attention of dignitaries and heads of state.
