Bandar Seri Begawan,Tuesday 29 August 2023 – A total of 54 members of the Muslimah Group of Kinabatangan region from Sabah have paid a visit to the Balai Khazanah Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah as part of religious activity organized by the association.
The arrival of the group was accompanied by Hajah Surayah Binti Haji Puterah, and was welcomed by Dayang Afiqah binti Jeferdin, Maintenance Officer, Exhibition and Collection Management Division of BKISHHB. The group who will be in Brunei Darussalam for 3 days has chosen BKISHHB as their selected destination.
During the visit, the Rehlah Association of Muslimah Kinabatangan had the opportunity to embrace the history of civilization and glory of Islam as well as to extend additional knowledges.
The visit also gave them an opportunity to view the Islamic historical artefacts and collections which are stored in the galleries.
According to one of the participants, Jaidah Binti Aqang Kinit, the visit to BKISHHB has given her new information because it was the first time witnessing the personal collections of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam as well as Islamic historical artefacts that give influential meaning to them.
While Rohainah Binti Tahir feels amazed because Brunei Darussalam has an institution that stores unique Islamic artefacts from various Asian regions.
Among the interesting materials display at BKISHHB is a 47 million year old fossil wood called Cypress from Jordan measuring 62 feet in length and 38 inches in width and weighing 48 tonnes.
The Cypress tree has significance with Islamic history as it is the same species of wood used in the construction of the Prophet Noah’s ark.
