Bandar Seri Begawan, Thursday, 27 August. — Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), in joint collaboration with Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and An Naafii Co, will be holding the Maulid Akbar featuring Professor Dr Ustaz Abdul Somad, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 3 September 2026, corresponding to 21 Rabiul Awwal 1448 Hijrah, at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, commencing at 5:30 p.m.
The Maulid Akbar will be held in conjunction with the Celebration of Maulidur Rasul Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam 1448 Hijrah, themed ‘Membina Generasi Ummah yang Beriman, Berilmu, Beramal, dan Beradab Mulia.‘
This was announced at a press conference held at the Lecture Room on Level 1, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, this morning.
Representing UNISSA at the press conference was the Dean of Students at the Student Affairs Office of UNISSA, Dr. Haji Supri bin Haji Sudin, while Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was represented by the Archive Officer, Awangku Md Faiz Fakhri bin Pengiran Zainal Abidin, and the Public Relations Officer, Pengiran Muhd Fauzisalihin bin Pengiran Salleh.
“The Maulid Akbar is a programme grounded in appreciating the Prophet’s sirah nabawiyyah and strengthening the value of mahabbah towards our Great Leader, Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wassalam,” said Dr. Haji Supri.
“We are pleased to invite members of the public to take this opportunity to attend and help enliven this noble and knowledge-filled gathering,” he added.
The Maulid Akbar will also be enlivened with the recitation of selawat and qasidah by Munsyid Kyrel Al Gayauwi and Ahmad Muaiyyad Az-Zubair bin Haji Umar Abdul Hakim, along with performances by Kumpulan Ad-Dhiyaul Lami’ As Syarif and Kumpulan Permai.
Participants will also have the opportunity to listen to a religious talk (tazkirah) entitled “Membina Generasi Ummah yang Beriman, Berilmu, Beramal dan Beradab Mulia,” to be delivered by Professor Dr. Ustaz Abdul Somad, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Usuluddin, UNISSA.
It was also announced that a shuttle bus service will be provided for members of the public starting at 5:15 P.M., from several designated locations, namely Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB), Sekolah Tinggi Arab Hassanal Bolkiah (STAHB), Masjid Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, and Institut Tahfiz al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Meanwhile, the organisers have also requested the cooperation of all prospective attendees to bring along necessities when attending the event, namely a plastic bag to store shoes or sandals, their own prayer mats (sejadah), as well as a folding chair if needed, to ensure the smoothness and comfort of the event.
In addition, various pop-up vendors selling food, beverages, souvenirs and other items will be made available to participants throughout the ceremony.
The press conference then continued with a question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity for members of the media to seek further clarification regarding the event.
