BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 15 August 2026 – A spirit of blessings enveloped Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) this morning with the recitation of selawat and dikir during the Berselawat Ceremony held to mark the opening of the Noble Hair of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Gallery, in conjunction with the month commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The Noble Hair of Prophet ﷺ Gallery will be opened to the public for a month, from 2 Rabiulawal 1448 corresponding to 15 August until 30 Rabiulawal 1448 corresponding to 12 September 2026.
Present as the Guest of Honour at the ceremony was Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of BKISHHB, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Also present as Guests of Honour were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Civil Service Governance), Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohammad; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law), Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Energy, Upstream and Downstream) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah; and Minister of Development, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, together with members of the Secretariat of the BKISHHB Advisory Board.
The Guests of Honour were welcomed by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Concurrently the Director of BKISHHB, as well as Head of the Secretariat of the BKISHHB Advisory Board, Dr. Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar by Religious Teacher Grade II, Department of Islamic Studies (JPI), Muhammad Ayub bin Ali, followed by the recitation of the Prayer for the Protection of His Majesty the Sultan and the Nation of Brunei Darussalam, led by Special Nazir, JPI, Haji Abdullah bin Haji Sahat. The ceremony then continued with the communal recitation of selawat and dikir, led by officers and staff of JPI.
The annual ceremony is among Balai Khazanah’s ongoing efforts to enliven the month commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, while providing an opportunity for the public to draw closer to, appreciate and value one of the precious Islamic heritage treasures preserved at the institution.
In this regard, members of the public are invited to take the opportunity to visit the Noble Hair of Prophet ﷺ Gallery and increase their recitation of selawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as an act of tabarruk, while observing proper etiquette and showing the utmost respect when inside the Gallery.
The organisation of this annual ceremony reflects Balai Khazanah’s continued commitment to enlivening the month of Rabiulawal, particularly in fostering love, devotion and respect for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, while bringing Islamic heritage closer to the public through meaningful educational, spiritual and cultural experiences.
In addition, BKISHHB is inviting Groups of men or women from ministries, mosques, associations, higher education institutions and private companies to participate in the Berselawat Session and the recitation of the Prayer for the Protection of His Majesty the Sultan and the Nation of Brunei Darussalam throughout the month of Rabiulawal 1448 Hijrah at the Noble Hair of Prophet ﷺ Gallery, from 2 to 30 Rabiulawal 1448H, corresponding to 15 August to 12 September 2026, except Fridays and Sundays.
