Briefing session on Pameran Astronomi: Kaedah Penentuan Awal Bulan Hijri was held this afternoon at the main lobby.
This briefing is one of the programmes under Pameran Astronomi: Kaedah Penentuan Awal Bulan Hijri, organised in collaboration with five agencies and associations: Bahagian Perhubungan Awam, Antarabangsa dan MABIMS (Malaysia, Republik Indonesia dan Republik Singapura), the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the State Judiciary Department, the State Mufti Department, the Survey Department, and Persatuan Astronomi Brunei Darussalam (PABD).
The first briefing session titled “Taqwim Hijrah” was delivered by Yang Mulia Mohamad Effendi bin Haji Sulaiman, Religious Teacher, Pusat Da’wah Islamiah, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Yang Mulia Haji Abdul Muhaimin bin Awang Haji Damit, Religious Officer of the Syariah Court, State Judiciary Department, shared about “Penetapan Awal Bulan-Bulan Hijrah di Negara Brunei Darussalam” during the session.
Meanwhile, Yang Mulia Haji Khairul Abidin bin Haji Sulaiman, Acting Senior Surveyor, Survey Department, Ministry of Development, presented a briefing titled “Penglihatan Anak Bulan / Hilal di Negara Brunei Darussalam.”
Present to listen to the briefing were penghulus and village heads from the district.
Among the main objectives of Pameran Astronomi: Kaedah Penentuan Awal Bulan Hijri is to provide exposure to the public, including school students and those in educational institutions, regarding the process and methods of Hilal observation in Islamic teachings, and to highlight the role and importance of the Hilal in determining significant dates in the Islamic calendar practised in NBD, such as the beginning of Ramadan for fasting, the month of Syawal for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and the month of Zulhijjah for the Day of Arafah and Hari Raya Aidiladha.
