Bandar Seri Begawan, Thursday, 31 August 2023 – The Quranic manuscript collections displayed at the exhibition galleries of Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) were among the main attractions for visitors from the Kembara Husna and Kuliah Dhuha Group.
The delegation, comprising 31 members from Johor, Malaysia, was led by Ustaz Shahrul Rizal bin Mohd Sati. The Kembara Husna and Kuliah Dhuha Group was in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day visit, with BKISHHB included as one of their destinations.
NurHayati binti Harun, who accompanied the delegation, shared her views that the Quranic manuscripts on display were impressive and informative. She also encouraged members of the public to seize the opportunity to visit and appreciate the manuscript collections at BKISHHB.
She was particularly drawn to the Brunei Darussalam Mushaf collection on display, comprising manuscripts in black, blue and green, which are uniquely found in Brunei Darussalam.
The writing of the Brunei Darussalam Mushaf commenced on 8 Ramadan 1408H, corresponding to 25 April 1988, in collaboration with the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Its writing and verification were completed on 29 Rabiulakhir 1410H, corresponding to 28 November 1989.
Meanwhile, Mohd Ashraf bin Mat Hairi, who has experience in studying and researching Quranic manuscripts, expressed his satisfaction with the visit, as it provided him with new knowledge about the various types of Mushaf, complemented by clear and informative explanations that greatly enhanced his understanding.
The exhibition galleries at BKISHHB feature a diverse collection of Quranic manuscripts originating from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Pakistan, India and many others.
Among the notable collections on display at BKISHHB are a copy of the Mushaf belonging to Ahmed Syamsuddin Karahisari, the Quranic Stone, a carved Quranic manuscript inscribed on stone slabs, a 1,000-year-old Mushaf, a collection of miniature Mushaf manuscripts, and many more.
