Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB), Prime Minister’s Office, received a delegation of overseas participants in conjunction with the Public Expenditure Management Network in Asia (PEMNA) Treasury Community of Practice (T-CoP) meeting, in collaboration with the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance and Economy, on Thursday, 22 October 2026.

The visit involved more than 80 delegates comprising international and local representatives, with tour guides providing explanations throughout the visit.

Among the highlights of the visit was the Galeri Plus Package, an exclusive guided tour around and within the BKISHHB building, which provided the delegates with insights into the functions, distinctive architectural features and design of the building.

Through the Galeri Plus, the delegates had the opportunity to explore the Manuscript Scanning Room on Level Two and the Conservation Laboratory on the Ground Floor of the BKISHHB building. At the Manuscript Scanning Room, the delegates were introduced to physical and digital manuscript research activities, as well as the manuscript digitisation process for documentation, reference and the preservation of information.

Meanwhile, the visit to the Conservation Laboratory introduced the delegates to the methods employed in the care, preservation and conservation of materials and artefact collections.

In addition, a demonstration of Turkish Water Marbling Art, known as Ebru, was also featured as part of the visit. The demonstration introduced the delegates to a traditional Turkish art form that uses the surface of water as a medium to create patterns, which are subsequently transferred onto paper.

The demonstration highlighted the intricate techniques, creativity and uniqueness of each pattern produced, providing the delegates with an interactive experience in appreciating the diversity of the art and cultural heritage of the Republic of Turkiye.

The visit is hoped to broaden the delegates’ knowledge of Islamic treasures and enhance their understanding of BKISHHB’s role in preserving and showcasing Islamic heritage through informative and interactive programmes.
