Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) recently held a knowledge-sharing session exclusively for officers and staffs through a Jalsah Ilmiyyah at the Auditorium of BKISHHB.
The Jalsah Ilmiyyah, entitled “Mimbar Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam: Sejarah dan Fadilatnya” (The Prophet Muhammad’s Pulpit: Its History and Virtues), was delivered by the Acting Director of Dar Al-Siddiq for Sciences, Jeddah, Dr. Nezar Mahmoud Kasem Alsheikh.
The knowledge-sharing session aimed to provide BKISHHB with the opportunity to view, for the first time, a replica model of the pulpit of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, as well as to gain a deeper understanding of the history of its construction. The original pulpit was built in the eighth year of Hijrah before it was destroyed in a fire at Masjid An-Nabawi in 654 Hijrah.
Through his research, Dr. Nezar was able to produce a model of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam’s pulpit according to its original specifications and exact dimensions. The model was crafted using wood from the Athal tree, also known as the Tarfa’ tree, sourced from the vicinity of Madinah Al-Munawwarah. This is the same type of wood that was used to construct the original pulpit during the time of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. In addition, a smaller replica of the pulpit was also produced.
Furthermore, the findings of the research on the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam’s pulpit were published in a book entitled “al-Durr al-Thamin fi Fada’il Mimbar al-Nabi al-Amin Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam” (The Precious Gem on the Virtues of the Pulpit of the Trustworthy Prophet, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
The presentation on the pulpit of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was delivered entirely in Arabic and translated into Malay by the Director of BKISHHB, Dr. Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Ahmad, to enable BKISHHB staff to gain a clear and comprehensive understanding of the subject presented.
