Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) conducted a Fire Drill and Building Evacuation Exercise at the BKISHHB premises today.
The exercise simulated a fire incident occurring in the basement area, involving three casualties who sustained minor injuries while making their way to the Assembly Point.
Upon arrival at the Assembly Point, members of the Fire and Rescue Department (Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat) immediately took action to extinguish the simulated fire using two 4-kilogramme Dry Powder fire extinguishers. The casualties were successfully evacuated by their respective Fire Marshals.
A total of 87 officers and staff participated in the exercise, which was jointly organised by BKISHHB and the Public Relations Division, Operations Branch ‘A’.
The exercise aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and awareness among officers and staff towards fire safety, as well as to familiarise them with the proper procedures for ensuring personal safety and evacuation in the event of a fire.
Such exercises are conducted at least twice a year to ensure that the established emergency procedures remain effective, systematic and well-coordinated.
Also participating in the exercise were Acting Director of BKISHHB, Dr. Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Ahmad, and Acting Deputy Director of BKISHHB. Also present was Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Asmali bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, Commanding Officer of Operations Branch ‘A’.
The Fire and Rescue Department also provides various fire safety programmes, including the Fire Marshal Live Saver 995 course and Fire Safety Briefings. These programmes aim to enhance participants’ knowledge and awareness of fire safety measures, particularly in handling emergency situations, as well as to provide guidance on the proper use of fire extinguishers.
