GALLERY 1 : The King’s Wisdom:
This gallery focuses on the leadership, personality and intellectualism of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu‘izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam particularly from the Islamic perspective. Among the collections displayed are published books that are part of the personal collections of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu‘izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Hukum Kanun Brunei (Canon Law of Brunei), Mushaf Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty’s cloak atfer performing the Hajj.

This is a scanned copy of the Hukum Kanun manuscript bound in black leather. Handwriten in Malay Jawi script.
The manuscript consists of 45 Clauses and divided into six parts namely:

Gallery 2: Mushaf

This gallery displays the personal collection of Mushaf of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu‘izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in its own distinct form, colour and writing technique originating from Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Spain, Pakistan, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Negara Brunei Darussalam and others.

Mushaf Miniature

Brown miniature mushaf leather made from animal skin; engraved with golden lines. The first two pages of this mushaf are filled with floral paterns in gold ink. Mushaf writing using green ink. The names of the surahs are writen using gold ink. This Mushaf measures 3.0 x 2.3 x 2.1 cm and contains 25 lines on each page and completes 30 juz.

This gallery displays the noble hair of the Prophet ﷺ along with other collections such as a fragment of burda (cloak), replicas of swords, footprint, slippers and a walking stick of the Prophet ﷺ .

Al-Qadib sword

Al-Qadib sword is one of the swords owned by the Prophet ﷺ. This sword was used for self-defence while travelling and not for war. This sword measures 106 cm long and has two sharp pointed edges. This sword was also used by the Prophet ﷺ on the wedding day of the Prophet’s ﷺ daughter, Sayyidah Fatimah  with Sayyidina ‘Ali  .

Gallery 4: Vestiges of the Companions

This gallery displays vestiges belonging to the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ such as a replica of ‘Uthmani Mushaf, swords, hair and beard of the Companions and grandsons of the Prophet ﷺ.

REPLICA OF THE SWORD OF SAYYIDINA ‘UTHMAN IBN ‘AFFAN رضي الله عنه

This sword is among the swords belonging to Sayyidina ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan رضي الله عنه. The sword measures 115 cm long and 9 cm wide, while the scabbard measures 100 cm long and 10 cm wide. On the blade of the sword is engraved Surah al- Fath, the names of Allah, Muhammad, Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthman and ‘Ali. The tip of the sword has the shape of a curved dragon on the left and right.

Dala’il al-Khayrat

Dala’il al-Khayrat This manuscript was composed by Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Sulayman ibn Abu Bakr al-Jazuli (d. 869 AH). This manuscript contains prayers and praises to Allah ﷺ , salutations to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ including the ritual of salutations. This manuscript is a copy of the original manuscript, with well-ordered, beautiful writing, full of illustrations and a clear writing style. This manuscript measures 13.6 ₓ 8.4 ₓ 1.4 cm with 192 pages and 12 lines per page.

This manuscript portrays life in Brunei Darussalam in the 1930s, under the reign of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Akhazul Khairi Waddin, the 27th Sultan of Brunei. This manuscript is writen in Malay and contains information about Brunei Darussalam’s history, education, economy, and administration.

This manuscript measures 31.5 X 21 X 0.5 cm.

This manuscript portrays life in Brunei Darussalam in the 1930s, under the reign of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Akhazul Khairi Waddin, the 27th Sultan of Brunei. This manuscript is writen in Malay and contains informaon about Brunei Darussalam’s history, educaon, economy, and administraon.

This manuscript measures 31.5 X 21 X 0.5 cm.

Gallery 7: Signs of Greatness of Allah Ta’ala

This gallery exhibits a collection of flora and fauna fossils that demonstrate the greatness of Allah سبحانه و تعالى. The fauna fossils consist of Lycopteriade (fish), Pinnidae (shells), Mollusca (snails), Galenidae (crabs), corals and more. Meanwhile, the flora fossils exhibited are seeds, leaves and tree trunks from the Neogene period. Some of the fossils were discovered in Brunei Darussalam

Description:

A group of extinct marine arthropods similar to crabs. For support and protection, the soft parts of the animal were covered by an exoskeleton which cover the animal’s back.

The exoskeleton is divided to three parts:-

(1) Cephalon (head shield)

(2) Thorax (middle section)

(3) Pygidium (tail shield)

Trilobites can enroll themselves into a ball for protection.

Live during Cambrian Period and Extinct in the end of Permian Period which age around 300 to 542 million years ago.

This gallery exhibits ancient instruments which were used by the Islamic scholars in the field of astronomy such as astrolabe, quadrant, compass, rain gauge, celestial globe and telescope.

Astrolabe

Astrolabes were among the most important instruments used in the early days of astronomy to determine time and direction, commonly used by astronomers and sailors. However, the origin of astrolabes can only be detailed to the extent permited by the evidence. Astrolabe reached its peak of fame at the end of the Golden Age of Islamic civilization (between the 8th and 15th centuries). The popularity of astrolabes is widespread to various countries, across India westward to Spain and North Africa, before then widespread throughout Europe. The use of astrolabes has been declining for centuries, especially today. Nevertheless, astrolabes have made a significant contribution to the development of astronomy and modern technology. Astrolabes are considered the equivalent of computers or GPS in modern times.

Gift from His Excellency Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday, 21 July 2009. Ming Dynasty Islamic ceramic vase during the reign of Emperor Chia Ching in 1522-1566 AD. Aged about 450-500 years. Engraved with the word Shahada.
